Thyatirans help make the church the Good News Capital of Rowan County by supporting one another and the local community in a variety of ways. Our members are involved in many local civic organizations and schools, as well as looking out for their neighbors whether or not they are members of the church.
As just one example of the way we are engaged with our community, we are pleased to host Smart Start Rowan’s Kaleidoscope early education program for our community’s Spanish-speaking neighbors.

Thyatira is part of its community:
- The Women of the Church meet each third Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the Parlor for fellowship, study, prayer and service. All women are invited to grow in faith together as we serve others through our Community Breakfasts, Bazaars, and support of ministries like the Rowan One Church, One Child program.
- The Men of the Church meet each last Sunday of the month at 8:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall for breakfast, fellowship, and a brief devotion. The Men serve at Rowan Helping Ministries as well as our Community breakfasts and other work projects. All men are invited.
Current Rowan Helping Ministries Urgent Needs: Sugar, mayonnaise, grits, cereal, tomato soup, canned great northern beans, canned pork & bean, canned ham/spam, canned beef stew, pancake syrup, cooking oil, detergent laundry, and dishwashing liquid. |
- Thyatira’s Community Breakfasts are legendary and bring the Millbridge and Mt. Ulla community together for a great meal and great fellowship. Held three or four times a year, the Community Breakfasts are a joint effort of the Men and the Women of Thyatira.
- Christmas Caroling brings the nativity story to Thyatira’s homebound members as well as to area nursing homes.
